During thi sproject we focused on systems in the human body. We wanted to under stand each system's purpose as well as its function. Each group in our class was assigned two body systems. We were expected to research then and create a working model that represented their function. In the way that huan body sytems work togther, we were all expected to show how they relate to each other as well. Our group chose to research the endocrine and reproductive systems. We spend a few days researching in textbooks and online so we could plan our model out. Once had a blueprint we were happy with, we went to work. To create our model, we used a multitude of materials to symbolize different organs and secretions in the body.

Content
Endocrine System- collection of glands of an organism that secrete hormones directly into the circulatory system to be carried towards distant target organs. Includes glands in brain, pancreas, adrenal gland, ovaries, testis, etc.
Hormones- a regulatory substance produced in an organism and transported in tissue fluids such as blood or sap to stimulate specific cells or tissues into action. Causes slow changes in function of cells by altering protein synthesis slightly.
Blood vessels- components of circulatory system that move hormones around the body and to the cells.
Hormone receptors- bind to hormones and initiate a cell signalling cascade or promote changes in gene transcription. Depending on the type of hormone they bind, hormone receptors can be found
Endocrine Glands- pituitary gland: a major endocrine gland at the base of the brain that is important in controlling growth and development and the functioning of the other endocrine glands. Pancreas: a large gland behind the stomach that secretes digestive enzymes and the hormones insulin and glucagon into the blood. Adrenal Gland: gland that produce a variety of hormones including adrenaline and the steroids aldosterone and cortisol, found above the kidneys. Parathyroid Gland: A gland that regulates calcium, located behind the thyroid gland in the neck. Secretes a hormone called parathormone (parathyrin) which is critical to calcium and phosphorus metabolism. Thyroid gland: a large ductless gland in the neck that secretes thyroid hormones regulating growth and development through the rate of metabolism. Ovaries: a female reproductive organ in which ova or eggs are produced as well as the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. Testis: an organ that produces sperm and the hormone testosterone.
Reproductive System- the organs and glands in the body that aid in the production of new individuals (reproduction). In the male, sperm are produced in the testes and conveyed to the female in a fluid called semen, which passes out of the body through the penis.
Female Reproductive Organs- Ovary: a female reproductive organ in which ova or eggs are produced. Fallopian Tubes: a pair of tubes along which eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus. Uterus:the organ in the lower body of a woman or where offspring are conceived and in which they gestate before birth (womb). Vagina: the muscular tube leading from the external genitals to the cervix of the uterus.
Male Reproductive Organs-Testis: an organ that produces sperm. Scrotum: the skin that hold the testis outside of the body. Penis: external male reproductive organ that contains erectile tissue. Semen: fluid that carries sperm.
Reflection
This project was interesting not only because is topic, but also because its many components. There were many pieces to orchestrate from researching, planning, building, fixing, and creating a cohesive presentation that effectively explain our body systems. Everyone in our group had to coordinate with each other to make sure all the work was done well and made sense together.
To improve our work quality, we could have taken advantage of the long work day see had to do even more research and ceate a better presentation. Our slideshow could have gone into deeper detail about the function of each system. Having more information would make our project more useful in learning. Including more diagrams of each system could have made this more effective. Also, having more information on each system just generally would also help explain the systems.
On the other hand, our final product turned out ver well. The model did a good just good job of representing the functions of each of our body systems and how they worked together. There were many working components to our model that all showed many of different functions of each system in stead of just one or two. This meant it was more helpful in teaching more information about the endocrine and reproductive systems to our peers.
To improve myself, I would like to enhance overall leadership skills. I would also like to become better at explaining my visions to my group. I believe that if I can find a way to provide helpful, progressive instruction, I would become a much better group member. I would also like to improve my multitasking skills so I can work on many aspects of the project at the same time and make sure everything gets done.
